A Stunning Night: Northern Lights Over Carisbrooke Castle
Last evening brought an unexpected delight. After receiving a notification about the potential for Northern Lights, I decided to take a chance despite the rarity of such sightings on the Isle of Wight. At around 10:30 PM, I noticed a subtle green hue in the sky, which soon evolved into a breathtaking display of the Aurora Borealis. See my pictures over on Instagram.
I made my way to Carisbrooke Castle, a perfect spot for observing this rare phenomenon. By 1 AM, the sky was ablaze with vivid colors, and the once quiet scene quickly filled with photographers and enthusiasts, all eager to witness the spectacle.
Adding a personal touch to this magical evening, I learned that one of my best friends had just given birth to a baby girl named Aurora—a beautiful coincidence that made the night even more memorable. I took the opportunity to share some tips with a young photographer who was also there, which added a nice touch to the experience.
It was truly incredible to see the Northern Lights so vividly here on the Isle of Wight. The moment was one I won’t soon forget, and I’m grateful for the chance to witness and document such a rare event.
