Late-Night Adventures: Photographing the Milky Way at Freshwater Bay

Once again, I found myself up in the middle of the night, driven by the excitement of testing my new backup camera, the Fujifilm X-T3. With the skies clear and dark enough for Milky Way visibility, I decided to head out to Freshwater Bay around midnight.

The tranquil, peaceful setting was perfect for capturing the celestial beauty of the Milky Way. After a bit of time for my eyes to adjust to the darkness, I was thrilled to see the galaxy clearly visible to the naked eye. Using a lens with a low aperture of f/1.2 proved incredibly beneficial, allowing me to capture stunning details of the night sky.

As much as I enjoy wedding photography, my passion for astrophotography offers a different kind of satisfaction. It’s moments like these that make living here so special. The serenity of the night combined with the breathtaking views of the Milky Way made for an unforgettable photographic experience.
